One of my favorite products from Dior has been re-formulated… and they didn’t even ASK me *cries* just kidding…. but really…. 😉 It doesn’t matter how old I am I still shy away from changes. Personally, I LOVED the old formula. When I heard the Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss ($30.00 // Nordstrom) was being “re-imagined” my initial reaction was basic horror. “No! Why! It’s SO GOOD!” Luckily, this is one of those instances where the product remains just as amazing as it’s always been. Keep reading to see the new-ness!
What’s this new formula about? The Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss is said to “deliver incredible shine and color in a brand new ultra hydrating and plumping formula.” In this new formula you can definitely feel the plumping a bit. It’s not “lip venom” level but it’s slight to where you know somethings going on. The incredible sparkle just adds to the plumping effect and doesn’t look glittery or feel overly gritty/uncomfortable to wear (though as the gloss wears away you will feel it a bit).
The gloss doesn’t feel too thick or heavy while you’re wearing it and I don’t notice any scent. The applicator is a brush, which I usually don’t like… but in this instance it’s not too long or too short. It’s the perfect length to apply the product to my lips without making a mess of myself.
These have a sheer base but the darker ones have a nice tint to them. Each will pair up well with a plethora of lipstick shades and work nicely layered together for a fun new color. Wear time is that of a normal gloss… 2 hours or so unless I eat or drink and then it’s definitely in need of a re-application session.
18 new shades have been released this month and are inspired by the three high-shine effects, intricate embroideries and couture materials of Dior runway designs: Sparkling, Watery, and Iridescent.
The ultra-concentrated sparkly shades adorn lips with saturated pearls that reflect light, while the easy-to-wear watery shades dress lips in clean, saturated colors. Finally, the iridescent shades are infused with contrasting or tone-on-tone pearls to give color new dimension.
Of the 18 shades I was sent five to test out in 169 Gems, 553 Princess, 465 Shock, 643 Everdior and 996 Diorosphere. All of them are part of the Iridescent line.
To go along with the latest in Ultra-Gloss Dior also released three new limited edition shades of the Dior Vernis Gel Shine & Long Wear Nail Lacquer ($27.00 // Nordstrom) and Dior Addict Lipstick ($35.00 // Nordstrom), each in the 3 It-Shades.
The new Dior Addict Lipsticks feature a hydra-gel core with a top coat effect for sensational mirror shine. They apply smoothly with just enough of a pigment for a sweet day look, even at the beach. I love how moisturizing and wearable these lipsticks are – perfect for lazy/easy days or sultry nights where you’re not looking to fuss with a bold color.
Below I’ve got swatches two of the Dior Addict Lipsticks in 465 Cruise and 656 Cosmic.
There are two of the Dior Vernis Gel Shine & Long Wear Nail Lacquer and I have one of them in 676 Cruise.
Cruise can be best described as gorgeous, but I’ll do you one better and tell you why. It’s medium pink base is perfect for Spring and Summer but there is an incredible amount of fine iridescent and copper shimmers in there along with small FLAKIES of the same color. I truly have nothing like it and it’s a winner. Below I’m wearing two coats along with a base and top coat.
How do you feel when brands re-formulate products? What shades are your favorite from the new Dior line of Ultra-Gloss?? Let me know in the comments!
