Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Collection Swatches, Review + EOTD

Press Sample/Affiliate Links

Even if you’re not a 90’s kid you know Gwen Stefani. Even if you weren’t around when No Doubt was at the height of popularity you still know all about Spiderwebs, Don’t Speak and Just A Girl. Now, whether you’re Hella Good, Harajuku or simply a fan of The Voice, you can pick up pieces (or all 😉 ) of the Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Collection (Sephora) and recreate all of Gwen’s signature looks!

The collection features an arsenal of products designed by the UD team with the help of Gwen herself! She not only directed the packaging design but the colors within the collection are her “perfect shades”.

UD Gwen Stefani Eyeshadow Palette($58.00 // Sephora). This limited edition eyeshadow palette contains 15 eyeshadow shades in Blonde (pale beige/pink iridescent shift), Bathwater (pale beige with gold pearl), Skimp (pale nude satin), Steady (medium rose/metallic gold shift), Punk (reddish brown matte), Baby (cool metallic rose), Anaheim (light taupe-brown matte), Stark (nude-pink matte), Zone (medium brown matte), Serious (smoky gray with iridescent floating pearl), Pop (pale coral with iridescent sparkle), Harajuku (metallic blue-pink/iridescent micro-shimmer), Danger (deep metallic royal blue/blue micro-sparkle), 1987 (bright metallic yellow-gold) and Blackout (blackest black matte).

I love how neutral this palette is with a few pops of color. A lot of people seemed disappointed that there wasn’t a greater selection of shades but think about this… when was the last time you saw Gwen Stefani out and about in purple eye shadow? Or green? Or something even crazier? It’s not her. She’s got a very classic, pin-up look. We get a lot of colorful products that are limited edition from UD and I for one am happy to see mostly neutrals in this one. I found the shades to be very easy to apply and blend (Blackout was the only one that was a little dry) and they lasted all day when worn over a primer.

Below the eyeshadow shades are swatched on my arm (dry, no primer):

I did three eye looks with this palette. In the full face shot below I used the eye shadows in Blonde, Anaheim, Baby and Pop. On my cheeks I used Lo-Fi, Cherry w/ Easy over-top and Hush. The lip is 714 Lip Pencil and Lipstick.

In the two eye looks below on the top pic I used Steady, Zone, Pop and a bit of Punk. On the bottom pic I used Punk, Harajuku, Anaheim and Bathwater.

UD Gwen Stefani Blush Palette($45.00 // Sephora). This limited edition blush palette contains six cheek shades total – four blush in Cherry (light pink satin), Easy (deep rose with gold shimmer), Angel (champagne-nude shimmer) and Hush (medium pink with gold shimmer); one bronzer in Lo-Fi (soft bronze matte); one highlighter in OC (soft pink with peach shift).

For the most part, on my skin tone, four of these shades could be considered a highlight since they applied so sheerly. I’m only about NC/NW 20-25 in MAC (depending on the formula) and not a whole lot of color shows up for me except for in Lo-Fi and Easy. If you layer Cherry and Hush you will get a bit of color, but they ended up being frosty on my skin and really emphasizing my pores.

Below the blush shades are swatched heavily on my arm (dry, no primer):

UD Gwen Stefani Lipstick($18.00 // Sephora). Eight shades of these limited edition lipsticks were released and I have four shown below in 714 (bright red mega matte), Spiderweb (satin red cream), Rock Steady (deep wine red cream), and Firebird (deep fuchsia cream).

With the exception of 714 (the mega matte) the lipstick shades I tried went on smoothly. 714 was definitely drying, but over the lip pencil wasn’t uncomfortable to wear (IMO). All were heavily pigmented and lasted around 6 hours. Even after that there was a stain left behind that was enough of a lip color on it’s own.

UD Gwen Stefani 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil($20.00 // Sephora). Six shades of these limited edition lip pencils were released and I have three shown below in 714 (classic red), Rock Steady (blood red), and Firebird (deep fuchsia-pink).

These lip pencils are touted as being “creamy” and “waterproof”. I did find them to be creamy and to last a long time, even a bit through eating and drinking.

UD Gwen Stefani Brow Box($30.00 // Sephora). The only shade available for this limited edition Brow Box is in Bathwater Blonde, which is a brow powder duo created just for Gwen. That feature keeps well with the collection but didn’t make fans very happy since those shades aren’t going to match everyone. In addition to the brow products and tools there are also two mirrors, one of which magnifies.

This Brow Box contains two tiers. On the top tier you’ll fine two brow powders (Dark Blonde, Light Blonde) and a clear wax:

On the bottom tier you’ll find two mini-angled brushes and a pair of mini tweezers:

I love the packaging and I love the tools! The brow powders aren’t going to match me but a quick fix to that (if you’re like me and want the tools and collectible case) is to use them as eye shadows. 😉
