Is this brand ever going to have a dud? Every single time I try out a Charlotte Tilbury product I love it. And when I say love it, I mean must have every single thing would probably save it in a fire type of love. The six shades of Eyes to Mesmerise Cream Eyeshadows ($32.00 // Nordstrom) just may be my favorites to ever come out of the entire brand.
The packaging is a hefty glass jar with a chocolate brown cap, stamped with CT on top in gold and then Charlotte Tilbury written on the side in gold. This jar comes inside of a secure, square box of the same color combo.
Six shades are available in Norma Jean, Bette, Mona Lisa, Marie Antoinette, Veruschka and Cleopatra. The descriptions below are taken from the Charlotte Tilbury website, in the words of the makeup artist herself.
Norma Jean. A gorgeous, sparkling-pink champagne inspired by the iconic beauty Marilyn Monroe. (note: on my packaging it says the name of this is Norma Jean. When you order from the website it just comes up as Jean).
Bette. A rich, burnished, amber-gold tone designed to recreate those famous and powerful Bette Davis eyes.
Mona Lisa. A wisteria-chocolate bronze that I designed to recreate the soft-focussed smokey stare of da Vinci’s leading lady with that unbreakable a gaze.
Marie Antoinette. An antique oyster gold hue inspired by the hypnotizing beauty of the infamous Queen of France.
Veruschka. A dreamy, minky-mossy golden grey-green that pays tribute to the sultry feline eyes of the iconic model, Veruschka!
Cleopatra. A vibrant peacock hue inspired by the mesmerizing Queen of Egypt and Elizabeth Taylor’s portrayal of her in the film – Cleopatra…
The formula is similar to a soft mousse and all have a metallic finish. It feels very wet but isn’t tricky to use at all. I’ve found them quite easy to apply with either your brush or a finger. It sheers out easier with my finger and applies more opaque when I use a brush. These are also blendable into each other with a fluffy brush, so it’s nice that they can be used as bases or alone as an eye look. They don’t set immediately so you have time to work, but they do set… so make it happen sooner rather than later 😉
You do not need a secondary primer with this cream eyeshadow, which is awesome for me because my lids are oil-party central. Even when worn alone the Eyes to Mesmerise will stay in place all day long without any fading or creasing. No matter what you do, with a primer, without a primer, with shadows, without shadows… these aren’t budging.
Below the Eyes to Mesmerise Cream Eyeshadows are swatched dry with no primer underneath:
Charlotte Tilbury is very much a brand that when you buy one thing, you’ll need to buy about 30 more things. It’s just an incredible luxury that is worth the price. Above all others, if you’re going to splurge, this is the brand to splurge on.
