It’s that time of the year!! It’s hawttttttt and you need some extra SPF in your daily moisturizing and skincare routine! In addition to an SPF of 30 in my daily face primer I also like to add even more sun protection into my routine by using a day-time serum with Environmental Shield (I’ll explain wtf that is below!) like Murad Advanced Active Radiance Serum and the Murad Essential-C Day Moisture SPF 30.

Advanced Active Radiance Serum ($89.00 // Sephora). Before applying my moisturizer for the day I like to begin with a serum. This one from Murad has Environmental Shield which basically means that there are ingredients in the serum (ectoin and green tea extract) which “jump-start the cellular defense system by helping to resist drastic environmental stressors including UV exposure and chemical aggressors”. In layman terms – those ingredients help fight off all the bad junk that will age and damage the skin. The Vitamin C will help boost skin radiance and collagen production. When I first started to use it I actually didn’t feel like there was much difference, but when I stopped using it for a few days my skin just looked so dull. That’s how addictions are made. It’s now a need.

Essential-C Day Moisture ($60.00 // Sephora). This moisturizer is awesome because it has the SPF 30 to add to the SPF 30 from the primer and any SPF my makeup contains and, most importantly, it feels lightweight and doesn’t make me break out. A big problem for me in just applying general SPF to my face is my hormonal acne begins to rage. While it only takes 2 days to start to crop up it takes months to heal, so I try to stay away from everything I can that will aggravate it. Like the serum this moisturizer also contains Vitamin C and ectoin to aid in healthier-looking skin.

There is a very light citrus scent to these products but it’s really subtle and fades quickly. How do you change up your skin care routine in the Summer?

Murad products can be purchased at Sephora, Ulta and murad.com.
