In February the Makeup Wars Bloggers shared their favorite drugstore beauty brands. To follow up it’s only natural to also share our favorite high-end brands! Of course, I’ve chosen Charlotte Tilbury.
Why did I choose Charlotte Tilbury? You mean besides the fact I lusted after her products before they were even available in the US and then lost my damn mind when I went to The Makeup Show and learned she’d be launching her collection in the states later that year? Apologies if I scared those of you at the booth. Charlotte Tilbury has been a well known makeup artist for over 20 years as well as a mother! She’s long been a consultant with beauty brands and labs so it’s only natural to bring the creative genius to her own line. I hope you’ll fall as hard for her products as I did!
THE REBEL Luxury Palette Color-Coded Eyeshadow Palette ($52.00 // Nordstrom). The eyeshadow palettes can be rather addicting. Even before you buy and try just looking at swatches makes you want to own them all. I chose The Rebel as the first one I ever bought because of the beautiful array of greens. While it’s likely not a combo you’d wear every day it’s entirely possible, especially with the arrival of Spring. The shadows are incredibly soft (you can see one detached a bit in shipping but was easily pressed back in) and pigmented, lasting all day long over primer.
GLOSSY BLACK Full Fat Lashes 5 Star Mascara ($29.00 // Nordstrom). This mascara is definitely one of the best out there in terms of luxury makeup. It’s called 5 Star because it’s said to “curl, separate, volumize, lengthen and dramatize your lashes in a single stroke”. It definitely adds all that in a single stroke but I like extra drama so I still always use 2 or 3 coats. It does hold the look all day long without flaking.
VERUSHKA MINK Rock ‘n’ Kohl Iconic Liquid Eye Pencil ($27.00 // Nordstrom). These kohls are smooth and soft, but they don’t budge – which is hard to find in a kohl… particularly on me since I waterline my lower lash line. Verushka Mink is unlike any color I’ve ever seen. It’s a deep blackened taupe brown. Which almost makes no sense. It’s one you need to see to believe and it’s perfect for days when you want a smoldering look but are completely bored to tears with the usual black and brown.
The products mentioned above are swatched below dry with no primer.
In the look below I’m wearing The Rebel on my eyes with Verushka Mink as an eyeliner with the 5-star mascara. Other Charlotte Tilbury products are the Filmstar Bronze & Glow, First Love Cheek to Chic Blush, Pillow Talk Lip Cheat (for Kylie Jenner Lips), Bitch Perfect Lipstick and Sweet Stiletto Lip Lustre.
