For this weeks Makeup Wars we’re each focusing on our favorite Drugstore Beauty Brand! Of course I had to choose Milani. They have my holy grail mascara, after all, and it’s only FIVE BUCKS. For Spring 2015 they’ve launched a ton of sparkly goodness in addition to some beautiful matte lip shades. As my homage to what I feel is the best overall drugstore brand I’m going to share with you the 2015 Spring Collection from Milani.
First up, the Milani Fierce Foil Eyeshine ($9.99 each) palettes. These got teased over on the Milani Instagram Page I think as far back as November (it was actually ON my birthday so, you know, all things blurry before then). Four quads of glowing, creamy eye product set in gilded palettes named for some of the most well-known cities in Italy. These quads look intimidating, but are actually quite wearable!
How I wear it. I personally like to use the new Fierce Foil Eyeliners as a base and then lightly tap/smooth the eye shine colors over-top. Because of the formula/consistency it’s a little difficult to blend without smearing, so tapping is your best bet and really makes your eye look pop. Below I’m wearing Milani Brown Foil Fierce Foil Eyeliner all over my lid and a bit through the crease as a base color. With the Milani Florence Fierce Foil Eyeshine I placed the chocolate brown shade all over the lid, the copper in the crease, the champagne at the inner corners and also dabbed a bit of the white gold on the brow to highlight (though that’s hard to see) and also in the center of the chocolate brown shade. For a liner I used the Milani Supreme Kohl Kajal and then smudged a bit of the chocolate shade under my lower lash line using the included applicator. I smoothed that out with my finger and applied two coats of Milani Total Lash Cover Mascara.
In keeping with the eye products of this launch next up we have the Milani Fierce Foil Eyeliners ($6.99 each) and the Milani Supreme Kohl Kajal Eyeliner in 01 Blackest Black ($5.99). The Fierce Foil Eyeliners are clearly gorgeous as eye liners but I LOVE to wear them as bases to eye looks, particularly with the Fierce Foil eye colors mentioned above. As a base these do hold my eye look all day without a secondary primer. Four shades are available with the Spring launch in 01 Black Gold Foil, 02 Purple Foil, 03 Brown Foil and 04 Navy Foil.
Next, cheeks. Remember how everyone lost their minds (or was it just me?!) when the beautiful Milani Rose Powder Blush ($7.99 each) shades were released back in early 2014 (see Love Potion here)? Well now three more shades have launched!
The new Rose Powder Blushes in 01 Romantic Rose, 08 Tea Rose and 05 Coral Cove are just as pigmented as the previous ones and wear just as well… but that pattern.. the rose pattern is girly and immediately puts me in a good mood when I look at it.
What would life be without moisturizing matte lipsticks?! It’s the best of both worlds and Milani’s Color Statement Moisture Matte Lipsticks ($5.99 each) are my faves for the drugstore and beyond.
There are eight matte shades available with a few more swatched below for good measure 😉 The mattes are 60 Matte Innocence, 61 Matte Naked, 62 Matte Blissful, 63 Matte Diva, 64 Matte Orchid, 65 Matte Glam, 66 Matte Passion, 67 Matte Confident and the other two shown are 46 Power Pink and 45 Catwalk Pink and boast a glossy finish. Creamy, comfortable and opaque. The two Color Statement Lip Liners ($3.49 each) swatched are 12 Bordeaux and 13 Pretty Pink.
In the look below I’m wearing the eye look described above as well as Milani Rose Powder Blush in Romantic Rose, Milani Color Statement Matte Lipstick in 61 Matte Naked and Milani Color Statement Lip Liner in 13 Pretty Pink.
Of course, many drugstore brands have amazing products. I’m obsessed with Maybelline Color Tattoos and who doesn’t love the L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Extraordinaire Liquid Lipstick (my fave is Nude Ballet).
