Chanel ORAGE, ATMOSPHERE Le Vernis Nail Colour Swatches, Review + Nail Art – Etats Poetique Fall 2014

Every time Chanel launches a new collection I know I’ll need the nail polishes. Of the three shades released from the Fall 2014 Etats Poetique Collection I bought two of them in Orage 631 and Atmosphere 629. The third shade, Secret 625, is a beautiful shade and looks fantastic as a base for Atmosphere, but I just found it way too dupeable for the cost. That being said, the formula was awesome on it, and if you need a good nude shade without thought to pricing this would be a good one to grab.

Orage is a saturated, blackened indigo with extremely subtle shimmer. You can see the shimmer in the flash photo but in the shade it’s not noticeable at all. This polish appears to be thin, but two full coats are all you need to completely coat the nail.

Atmosphere is a sheer, opalescent pearl with iridescent shimmer. It looks pretty nice alone, but dang is it crazy beautiful over Orage! Actually, it looks fantastic over everything and you need it. Below is three coats and you can see there is still quite a bit of visible nail line.

Because I’m obsessed (could you tell?!) with these two shades I had to do something fun. I got out my trusty tape, a dotting tool and a close-enough dupe for the third shade of the Etats Poetique nail polishes and got to work on something easy. That’s how I do.

To get the mani above follow the steps below:

  1. After applying your base coat (I used Cult Nails Get it On) start by painting two coats of Chanel Orage Le Vernis. Let that dry completely.
  2. Next take regular tape (or painters tape or striping tape, whatever) and cover the nail leaving a triangle of the Orage exposed. Paint Chanel Atmosphere Le Vernis over the exposed polish and then immediately remove the tape. You’ll be left with a perfect triangle.
  3. Using a dotting tool dab two coats of Chanel Secret Le Vernis (or in this case 2 coats of OPI Glints of Glinda). Allow the first dab to dry before adding the other.
  4. Finish up with a top coat (I used Cult Nails Wicked Fast).

How would you wear the new Chanel nail polishes this Fall?

Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour retails for $27.00 and they are available at Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, Saks Fifth Ave and chanel.com.
