Maleficent (the movie) comes out TODAY! I’m probably more excited than my kids are. I want to take them to see it… oddly I know my 5 year old daughter will be fine but I’m concerned that my 7 year old son will be scared. If you went and saw Maleficent already (we never go in the first week) let me know how scary it is. I’m hoping the scariness of the preview was just over-played.
In honor of the release all posts today will be of Maleficent – starting with The Maleficent Sculpting Powder in Sculpt and two of the three nail lacquers in Flaming Rose and Uninvited.
I thought I’d have some fun with the nail lacquers in Flaming Rose and Uninvited ($17.50 each). Nail art was definitely in order, but I really just wanted something simple. I decided to use Uninvited (neutral nude shade with light pearl) as my base and Flaming Rose (true red cream) at the tips to create a spiked french mani. It reminded me of fangs, claws and even a crown.
Flaming Rose painted on easily in one coat and the formula was fantastic. Uninvited was a little hard to work with, obviously it’s sheer, but it also managed to be pretty streaky. Below I used two coats but if I were using it alone I’d go for three or four.
The Maleficent Sculpting Powder ($23.00) is in Sculpt (soft taupe matte). This powder is extremely pigmented and you need to be careful with application or it will get muddy. Once Sculpt is on it doesn’t fade at all, so unless you’re going for all day long drama remember that less is more! PRO members are able to purchase Sculpt as a Pro Palette refill (permanent) for $16.50.
