The first thing you’ll notice about the Nuance Salma Hayek Beautiful Blends Eye Quad is the unique design. It’s a tear shape that opens up much like a flower would bloom (or, if you’ve seen the Super Girl movie circa 1984, how Kara’s spaceship opens) to reveal four shadows that work well alone or coordinate well together, as well as a rounded sponge applicator sticking straight up in the middle.
This quad is available in two versions, Neutral and today’s post of Smokey.

The Smokey Eye Quad has Silver Mist (idk who came up with that name, but it’s totally not silver at all but rather a gorgeous eggshell pink), Pearl Teal (a smoked out teal), Warm Smoke (a vintage taupe plum) and Cool Charcoal (a graphite grey). The finish on all of the shades in this quad is relatively the same, soft and ever so slightly shimmery (but not overly so). All of the shades were easy to blend and wore very well, but when applied to the eye they didn’t have as much pigment as they do when swatched. I still think the eye turned out beautifully with the shadows, but it’s more of an understated, day-appropriate eye rather than the sexy sultry evening eye that the word “smokey” brings to mind.
I spoke of the packaging in the opening paragraph, but it’s pretty durable and surprisingly easy to open and close. My only beef on the unique shape is that it’s a “b” to store. It basically just sits on top of my vanity, unable to be put away… which drives me insane.
While it’s not storage or traveler friendly, it’s definitely budget friendly! At barely $9.00 you could splurge and buy both versions, especially if there’s a deal at CVS or you have some rewards to spend!
I personally did not apply these shades the way they instruct to on the box. I read a few reviews previously and bloggers didn’t seem to be having luck with this method. So, I did my own thang. Silver Mist at the inner corners and to highlight, Pearl Teal on the lid, Cool Charcoal at the outer-V and Warm Smoke in the crease.
Nuance Salma Hayek Full Effect Ultra-Defining Mascara retails for $8.99 and is available at CVS.
