This Halloween Coupons.com challenged a group of bloggers to create a fabulous look of our choosing using a gift card to one of four beauty stores (mine was Sally Beauty Supply) to purchase products to design whatever we wanted! All we had to do was shop, use some coupons (yay, savings!) and create!
As much as I love all of the gross and gore that Halloween inspires, I like to use it as my one time out of the year where I can glitter bomb the heck out of myself. Because I’m not usually so glitzy, I don’t want to spend a whole lot of money creating a look that I’ll wear only one day out of the year. My look is done using products from my own stash with a few newly purchased extras on the side.
A fairy is pretty mainstream. Beautiful… ethereal… so I twisted it up a bit. You’re trapped in a tower and you’re a fairy… so you’re going to look a little haggard and a little gaunt, but still fabulously glittery and luminescent. Beautiful….even through your smeared cry face… This is so easy to achieve.
For the look above I made my face slightly paler by using Miracle Skin Transformer Treat & Conceal. I already had this on hand and it’s pretty light, plus it’ll hide everything so I don’t need to use an additional powder or foundation. I was able to apply this easy with my finger tips.
For a slightly hallowed out eye look as well as contouring around the face and cheeks I used cream eye shadow in Focus from the Illamasqua Complement Eye Shadow Palette. I applied and blended with my finger tips. I also used this same palette for eye shadows and the light ivory shade was my face highlight on the cheeks, nose and cupids bow. I also used the purple shade in this palette for my eyebrows. MAC Prim & Proper Blush was used lightly on the cheeks.
For the eyes, I primed all over and around using Urban Decay Primer Potion. I used a silver shade (The True Death) from the Tarte for True Blood Palette at the inner corners and then used Palladio Eye Shadow & Liner Herbal Crayons in Icicle (a Sally Beauty purchase) to create a base for the glitter liners. For glitter liners I alternated with Femme Couture Eye Drama Liquid Glitter Eyeliner in Chain Reaction, Envy & Rockin’ Rose (all Sally Beauty purchases). I finished off the look with eye lashes from the Ardell Lashes Villians Collection – Cruella de Vil and Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara.
On my lips is simply LUSH Latte Lip Tint with a dab of Figs & Rouge Cherry Blossom Lip Balm in the middle for dimension.
What are you dressing up as this year and what makeup from your stash will you use to get the look?
