The latest MAC collection to release is Art of the Eye, which has a bit of everything to reach out to everyone – bright and neutral lovers alike! It also brings about the re-release of Parrot Eye Shadow, which is a huge favorite of all (and if you’re all like “no, I don’t even know what that is” then look it up, trust me, you love it).
The collection is a decent size concentrated towards the eyes with two quads and several liners, shadows and the like. Today I have three pieces that were sent to me to share with you – Hi-Def Cyan Chromagraphic Pencil as well as Farasha and Gameela Eye Shadow .
The Chromagraphic Pencils ($16.00 each) are no stranger to the PRO line, but it’s always exciting to see PRO products pop up for the regular makeup consumer to purchase. Three of the Chromagraphic Pencils are released in this collection in Process Magenta, Landscape Green and today’s post of Hi-Def Cyan.
If you enjoy color popping off of your eye, the Chromagraphic Pencils are definitely the way to go. They are intensely pigmented and glide on like butter. These are meant for lining and defining, and stay on really well – they actually slightly stain a bit.
The Eye Shadows ($15.00 each) aren’t as bold as the Chromagraphic Pencils, but they certainly hold their own in the vivid category. Of the five shades released in this collection I have two to show you in Farasha (bright deep orange, matte) and Gameela (deep pink magenta, veluxe).
Farasha had a nice pigment to it and is buildable to make it full coverage and less patchy. Gameela is drier than Farasha, but is also buildable to hide any patchiness on the lid.
The shadows are swatched heavily below and work best on the eye when used with a firm brush. If you have any issues with the matte or veluxe formulas (which tend to be dry) a trick I usually like to use is to put them with a shimmery or frosty shade to blend, such as Parrot or Banafsaji from this same collection. I suggest firm brushes when using these types of formulas for the easiest application and best color payoff.
