This months Birchbox, March Madness, actually made me angry. It should be called Sample Size Central. I almost didn’t even post it, but then you may wonder why I don’t post about them anymore….
This is likely the worst shipment I’ve ever received from Birchbox. It borders shameful. I’ve had shipments before that have made me question whether or not to keep the service, but the rewards system always kept me around. Now, I’m at the point where I don’t care. Last month was pretty lame and I think that is why getting a crapola box this month really hurt.
With that rant over, here is the March Bichbox:
As you open the box there is a card resting on top of the tissue paper that tells you about the theme of the March Box (which is March Madness) and on the back tells you what is inside.
First, from Caldrea, three packets of body lotion in three different scents – Tea Olive Lime, Aloe Water Apricot and Coconut Fig. Honestly… I don’t mind getting a lotion… but I truly hate packets. It’s messy. This would have gotten a higher rating if I’d have received one of the three scents in mini bottle form.
Next, from Evologie, the Intensive Blemish Serum. I actually got the serum and the cream in my GlossyBox from February, so this I will use. Sadly, the small sample isn’t enough to pull this box out of the weeds.
From Marcelle, the BB Cream Golden Glow. This states it works for all skin types, but clearly (see swatch below) not all skin tones. Which is a shame, because it felt nice and I love the very slight shimmer effect.
Finally, from Whish, Shave Crave Shaving Cream. This sample size will work well for travel that I have coming up and the blueberry scent doesn’t come off as artificial. This was okay, but not amazing.
The Lifestyle Extra for this month comes to us from Madewell for Birchbox. It’s a nail file, with a cute print. I use glass nail files (nail file snob that I am) but someone in my life will love it.
It also came with this card from Benefit…
Which got me crazy excited… because who doesn’t love a beauty secret? But the “secret” wasn’t so much of a secret….
… as it was an ad for a new product. Why you play with my emotions, Birchbox?! Though, the card was cute. There was a special offer on the back, which is a nice touch:
Like I said at the beginning, this was a fail. There is the first month that I’ve felt that it would have been better to rip up a $10 bill and throw it out the window. I have no desire for this much skincare/body care, especially those in packet form. I generally throw those out or give them away. Overall, I’m usually happy with whatever Birchbox throws my way, but these last two months have just been blah. Pammy Blogs Beauty got a slightly different Birchbox, that I would have much rather had.
Because I’ve been with them SO long (well over a year) I’m giving Birchbox one more month. And by that I mean they better knock me out of my effing socks for April.
