This past month, MAC has introduced another new shadow formula with the release of the Electric Cool Eye Shadows. 12 shades have been released and I’m going to be sharing 7 with you today – Blacklit, Dynamo, Electroplate, Fashion Circuit, Highly Charged, Pure Flash, and Switch to Blue.
What the MAC website has to say about Electric Cool Eye Shadow:
A soft, lightweight, springy formula delivers hue-rich colour in a modern mode. One touch and you’ll be wired into its sensational blending power. Medium-to-high coverage transforms eyes. Use the 249 Large Shader Brush to provide pro-quality pick-up and distribution.

(L-R: Pure Flash, Electroplate, Dynamo, Blacklit, Fashion Circuit, Highly Charged, Switch to Blue)
Blacklit - black with multi-dimensional pearl
Electroplate - Cool gunmetal grey
Fashion Circuit – Bright kelly green
Highly Charged – Rich purple with pink pearl
These shadows have the CRAZIEST texture. They look like they’d feel like powder, but they’re cool to the touch and have a gel type feel. Almost like the Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blushes (which worked out well for the one that was broken, because it pressed right back together) but not quite as smooshy. Solid and firm, but pliable.. interesting. Much more useable and long lasting than the Big Bounce Shadows from last year (which I didn’t hate, but you needed to work with them more than what was implied or expected).
The staying power is on point, though my lids are oily and I found that using UDPP did help, though it wasn’t necessary (the fading and minor creasing really wasn’t THAT noticeable).
The best way to use these is to pat them on, and while they’re nicely blendable, you won’t want to blend MUCH because you don’t want to loose the vibrancy of the color.
You’ll want to make sure these cap well, as they’re going to likely dry out if they’re left to the air for too long. Even before I opened these for the first time they had separated a bit from the sides… reminding me of Shrinky Dinks from 80′s toys past. I’m not a huge fan of the twist top pots on these, for some reason they felt awkward. However, if the biggest complaint is the packaging and not the product I’d say we’re doing okay
For this look I used the shades Blacklit, Fashion Circuit, Pure Flash and Switch to Blue with the NARS Atlantic Eyeliner Stylo and Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Mascara.
For this look I used the shades Highly Charged, Dynamo, and Electroplate with the NARS Koala Eyeliner Stylo and Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Mascara.

MAC Electric Cool Eye Shadows retail for $18.50 each and are available at your local MAC Counter (try Nordstrom) or Store, as well as online at maccosmetics.com.
