I’ve been on a mission. A mission to find a deep, navy eye liner that is budge proof. I love a soft, navy liner… but it’s getting HOT out and for some reason liner migration is more of a problem for me this year than it was last year.
Enter NARS Rue Saint-Honoré Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner. While this liner is described on the NARS website as a deep royal blue, it’s a bit darker than what I think of when I hear “royal blue”. It’s not exactly the navy I was going for, but it’s beautiful and impossible to pass up.
What the NARS website has to say about Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner:
Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner takes liner to the next level. Rich, creamy color that glides on smoothly with a completely budgeproof finish. Incomparable 12-hour wear with no smearing and no caking. Deeply dramatic shades named for the most iconic streets in the world.
- Long-wearing
- Achieves rich, intense color
- Twist up delivery and built-in sharpener
Sharpening tips:
- To achieve a soft point, twist up the pencil color to slightly above the height of the sharpener blade.
- Hold the sharpener still in one hand and gently insert the pencil and turn the pencil clockwise, shaving the edges to a soft point.
- Repel pencil color so only the sharpened area is exposed.

Rue Saint-Honoré glides on easily and, as a long-wearing liner, wears much better than your usual liner, though obviously not as long as a true waterproof shade. The claim is that they wear 12 hours, and I got about that out of it, a full day for me and makeup is about 10 hours, and the liner was still looking great. This pencil also has a little sharpener attached to the end for making the perfect point.
In the summer between watery eyes from sun and allergies and sweat, NARS Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner is just the ticket to keep you from being a raccoons much taller and less rabid cousin.
NARS Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner retails for $23.00 and can be purchased at narscosmetics.com as well as at Sephora and NARS counters nationwide.
